Trial on plotting revolt in Mexico faces eight refugees
In May at Antonio, Texas, eight Mexican refugees face federal charges of conspiracy to violate neutrality laws. They include Alfonso de la Huerta, brother of Adolfo de la Huerta. Indicted jointly by a federal grand jury, the group is accused of planning to aid a revolt against the Mexican government. Defense plans to challenge evidence by alleging paid agents of the Calles administration provided key testimony. Additional claims involve an electric blasting machine order in a defendant’s name. The case follows prior DOJ raids and the capture of numerous documents, with relatives tied to further violence in Mexico.
