Hoover Seen as Iowa's Second Choice
Iowa Republicans show Herbert C. Hoover as a likely second choice for the presidential nomination. Of the 23 Iowa delegates to Kansas City, 15 to 19 may switch to Hoover if Lowden is out. Third District delegates favor Hoover, with district delegates George Lichty and Guy Vandeveer named. Delegates at large include W. T. Evans and Charles E. Hearst. The Third District is the only one with four delegates. Republicans expect Al Smith to secure the Democratic nomination, urging smart selection of their own standard bearer.
