The Iowa medical convention reports conflict over journal advertising ethics and the Iowa State University medical college status. Debates include Dr. Frantz on quack ads, criticism of the college, and a plan to merge Dr Dorrs publication with the society journal. A third committee will study both reports for a full verdict to the new president.

Withdrawal Impossible Marks Waterloo County Supervisor Race
Five Republican aspirants seek the county supervisor seat in the third district covering Waterloo city wards and Waterloo township. Virden and Yenney, despite attempts to withdraw, must remain on primary ballots per law. The race highlights a brewing wet vs dry battle as board composition and liquor policy loom large for 1916 Iowa politics.

Concrete Bridge Bonds Proposed in Marshall
Marshalltown Iowa May 16 Marshall county plans a bold project to bond future generations for permanent concrete bridges replacing wooden structures. The board of supervisors proposes bonds between 300000 and 490000 to fund the upgrade with repairs funds covering interest until maturity. Reinforced concrete bridges would last fifty years or more, and the plan relies on future tax dollars to share the cost. Rest Portland Cement and Canfield Lumber listed in ad material.
