Hammill Soon 78 Name Appointees Tax Commission
Des Moines reports Governor Hammill prepares to appoint the three members of the board of assessment and review. The tax body will operate with the new act, relieving the executive council of midsummer hearings on land values and property tax, while the legislative tax committee, named earlier, will assist and report on revenue changes. The panel will study other states and work with the new board to propose legislation to the next session. The committee notes rising taxes due to broader duties and the dollar’s depreciation affecting purchasing power.
