Baptists protest trustees action in Drake merger
Des Moines May 11 Numerous obstacles blocked the proposed Des Moines and Drake universities merger as students protested the plan already approved by both boards. The Iowa Baptist convention's 35 managers opposed transferring university property to Drake and named a committee to safeguard convention rights until the matter reaches the national board of education. The merger plans, approved by trustees, were outlined to the managers by trustee Frank R Sage.
