Frost-Proof Tulips Saved by Sprinkling Water
In Davenport on May 11 Mrs. C. I. Claussen saved a 10 000 tulip bed from a frost by sprinkling water during pre dawn hours when the temperature fell to freezing. The latent heat of the water protected the blooms and the crop will be sold on Mothers Day. From 4 to 7 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Claussen managed the operation.
