Water supply land condemned for dam near powerhouse

Land along Black Hawk creek near the transit company's powerhouse is condemned for a dam and reservoir to cool turbines and supply water for urban and interurban cars. Appraisers set 39 acres at 3500 dollars, about 90 dollars per acre, with owner Sarah W. Whitney, now in California. The land is flood prone and partly overflowed, but officials say construction will not damage nearby properties.
