New School Laws Aimed at Protecting Pupils and Teachers
Des Moines reports summarize winter legislative changes affecting schools. A new bus safety law requires drivers to stop five feet from buses and remain stopped until all pupils are safe, with front and rear “School Bus” signs. Other measures fund blind students’ higher education, survey handicapped children, extend teachers’ pensions to larger cities, and simplify petitions to abandon county high schools.
