Housing spectre rides in meeting of Wool Board
The West Board of Education again faced the housing spectre at the May session led by Superintendent Charles A. Kittrell. A new Lowell school is seen as the logical solution with additions to other buildings only offering temporary relief. The Lowell site has been purchased and enrollment surged across multiple buildings, with Lowell up 23 percent since 1928 and district totals rising to 336 pupils. The district faces full capacity strain across campuses and notes health concerns in basement classrooms. New teachers include Miss Clara Hansmeier of Waukon.
