Representatives of eight cooperative hog shipping associations and four county farm bureaus met in Oelwein to study a proposed concentration yard for grading reloading and selling hogs to move the terminal market closer to producers. A five member board would oversee the yard with three local directors and two from the Chicago Producers' Commission, needing about $10,000 to start. Chicago would provide 51 percent of capital if locals contribute 49 percent.

Experience Points to Best Method of Putting in Alfalfa
Fayette Ta May 9 There may be a few exceptions but the field of alfalfa in Fayette county seeded last summer after ground was fallowed generally looks best this spring. County Agent RB Lodwick says sowing after fallow and lime at different times yields the most success. A general lime stone application in 1925 or 1926 with summer fallowing and acid phosphate before seeding in late July or early August proved very effective. The multipacker or corrugated roller after seeding and a top dressing of stable manure early winter also helped.
