Mrs. Ana Claussen, age 31, sentenced by Judge Wade in Des Moines to three and a half years in the Cann City Colorado woman's penitentiary for using the mails to defraud. She ran a nationwide scheme using newspaper ads to lure victims like James E. Liston of St Anthony. Liston’s divorce filings revealed her multiple aliases and marriages, including Anna Claybrook to Liston and later Elmer Claussen in Watertown South Dakota. Federal inspectors traced her letters from town to town, leading to conviction after she pleaded guilty.
