Gothenburg Exposition Opens with King Present

Gothenburg Sweden May The Tercentennial Jubilee Exposition opens with gala celebrations attended by the King of Sweden and royal family. The event marks Gothenburgs 300th anniversary founded by Gustavus Adolphus with exhibits on industry commerce science education art and literature. Church bells sound at the opening and the royal train from Stockholm arrives by 7 30. Te deum services follow in city churches.

Royal procession marks Gothenburg exhibition opening

The royal party will attend a morning service at Gustaf Adolf's square with a special cantata and a 3000 student chorus. At 1 pm the gates open, guiding the king through the fair to a memorial hall reception. A pageant closes the day as Gothenburg hosts the expo until Sept 20.
