Big Family of Chickens Reared by Setter Dog
Council Bluffs Iowa May 8 A setter dog has hatched a nestful of chicks. Page Morrison owns the unusual pairing. Eleven of sixteen Rhode Island Red eggs produced chicks and three resemble the dog in color. The dog has long shown affection for chickens and once guarded a setting hen for two years. After the hen died the dog instinctively cared for the hatched chicks, feeding them and guiding them as a parent would.
