Des Moines May 7 MS8 April was a big month in building and engineering contracts in 37 states east of the Rockies. Total contracts reached 604,390,700, nearly matching March’s record. Central western states including Iowa posted 165,790,900, with 68,718,000 for residential, 30,598,600 for public works, 25,009,600 for commercial, and 17,557,900 for industrial projects.
