Rights for aliens who fought with allies in war
Washington May 7. A House immigration bill backed by Rep Slayden would restore prewar resident rights to aliens who served with allied forces and allow readmission within a year after war’s end. The measure also forgives the immigrant head tax for these returning veterans. The plan argues for justice to those who joined the Allied cause.

Wisconsin Loyalty Report Highlights State War Support
Wisconsin's loyalty record is detailed in a booklet by John R. Wolf of the Wisconsin editors association. It lists 45,750 men supplied, 31,080 volunteers, full participation in three liberty loans, Milwaukee oversubscribing by 280,000 to the Red Cross, Milwaukee $200,000 over to Y M C A, and high men sent to France. The piece notes Wisconsin ranked 11th in war savings stamps, a loyalty vote of 313,139 to 110,487, and only 2% of eligible men failing to respond to the draft, making a strong case for statewide patriotism amid pro Kaiser elements. The watchword is steadfast support for the war and criticism of excessive drives by other organizations.
