Qivernors Acts Perplexing In Des Moines May 6
In Des Moines on May 6 the question is not how attorneys and legislators are handling the code revision effort but why two governors and the legislature adjourned without final action. The code-revision commission finished its year-long work on 270 proposed laws, awaiting official action since January 1920. Gov Kendall says a regular session should undertake the task, though many fear a future session will not address revision. Suggestions include appointing a commission with full authority to compile a code and drop repealed laws, with the rest adopted as law. Speaker Arch McFarlane, Water poh, was in Des Moines Thursday.

Lawmakers discuss code revision and possible gentlemen’s agreement
McFarlane says revising the code is highly important and notes a private business day belief that if a gentlemen’s agreement among legislators had kept other bills from the special session, the governor would have convened it for code revision only.
