City Will Have Fine Laundry Building at Commerce Park West and Jefferson

Henry O. Bernbrock of Waterloo Steam Laundry will erect what may be the finest midwest laundry building on his corner lot at Hark avenue west and Jefferson street. The eight story brick and stone structure, about 85 by 100 feet, will cost roughly 85000 dollars and be fireproof inside. The first two floors will house laundry operations while the upper six floors will be apartments. Construction timing is undecided but a year to occupancy is hoped. The project aims to meet rising demand from the planned Russell Lamson hotel and Waterloo’s growing business.
