Ford assault rumors and coal strike wear on headlines
In a dramatic week, reports surface that Jienny Pord'in survived an attack on his life after two men in a larger car shadowed the Ford estate, followed him home, and forced his coupe off a 15 foot embankment. Police and private operatives pursue clues amid numerous arrests as Ford recovers at Ford Hospital. Meanwhile thousands of Iowa coal miners prepare for wage-expiration labor pauses, with 2,000 at work in some mines and most out, marking a broad slowdown in production. Texas Guinan and other club figures are noted for high earnings and tax payments, while a deadly coal-mining explosion in Pennsylvania injures many and saves a few. Legislative talk centers on banking stabilization and state guaranty, with the Lovrien plan proposing a $3,000,000 fund to aid így institutions, facing stiff opposition to deposits guaranty. Contempt of the Senate charges against Harry Sinclair move toward a possible prison sentence as questions about counts endure.
