Buchanan Board Makes Contract for Bridge Work
The Buchanan board of supervisors awarded a contract to build 79 bridges in the northern half of the county with bids from 12 firms. Eliott bid $342,386 for the northern section, Ratehold to receive $11,356 for the remaining portion. Cement work dominates, with one box culvert and a 24 ft slab bridge across Spring Creek near Brandon. The price runs about $15 per cubic yard, well below wartime highs.
