Waterloo Party Back From 12003 Mile Transcontinental Trip
Mr and Mrs C Jacobs and Mr and Mrs A E Hites of 1116 Grant Ave return from a Dodge Brothers tour covering 12003 miles. They traveled from Waterloo via California and Florida then east through Georgia Tennessee Kentucky Indiana Illinois, with 75 for car adjustment and gas prices ranging 12.5 to 32 cents. They carried 100 pounds of luggage and drove 355 miles in one day, visiting Lookout Mountain Pike's Peak Salt Lake City Sacramento San Francisco Los Angeles and Tampa before heading back to Waterloo via Florida and Georgia. They crossed the Colorado and Nevada routes, encountering three tremors in Frisco and noting California fruit and the Golden Gate ferry. They visited many cities including Omaha North Platte Cheyenne Laramie Denver Reno Sacramento Santa Rosa Sausalito and San Francisco.
