Health Crusade Aims to Cut Iowa Poverty Through Prevention
Des Moines March 1 1898 Dr Henry Albert Iowa health commissioner argues that applying organized preventive health work could lower illness by one third and extend life by ten years, reducing poverty. He cites that illness often robs families of breadwinners and states Iowa lags in health funding versus other states, with only two and a half cents per capita versus nine nationally.
