Few Good Cows Worth Whole Herd of Low Producers
A Chickasaw county dairyman sold an entire herd of red cows after a contest association tester showed they were unprofitable. He plans to replace them with Guernseys and crossbreeds, believing a few profitable cows are worth more than a large herd of low producers. Some farmers opt to buy a purebred dairy bull to raise higher producing calves.
