Early harvested corn shows 96 percent viability in test
A. 5. Slough of 266 Hammond Avenue tested 50 ears from his Orange township seed stock using a six kernel test. Only five ears were dead, yielding 96 percent live corn. The yellow variety, developed over years of local corn raising, matured well last season and stored in a chicken brooder house. Mr Blough notes the selection represents all seed corn on hand for fair indication of supply quality and favors early-maturing varieties for poor ripening seasons.
