The Wild Flowers Perspective Across the Fence
A 1915 McClure Syndicate tale about wild flowers in a garden debating envy and resilience. They argue wild blossoms endure storms, thrive in uncultivated ground, and should not envy cultivated neighbors across the fence. A violet speaks, a laurel, honeysuckle, and a rock-grown tree share wisdom about courage and perseverance.

City Council Faces Shortfall From Mulct Taxes
City Attorney says councils have long anticipated mulct tax returns payable March 1 and spent them by March 31. About 7500 from county treasurer already placed in the general fund, but warrants and lower expected receipts shrink mill tax and saloon license revenue from about 80000 to 22500. As a result the general fund will be short about 17600, with increased valuations covering 7500 to 10000 of the gap.
