Stevenson finds bear hunting bad in Mexican range
W A Stevenson vice president of James Black Dry Goods returned from a six week Arizona trip with no trophies. He hired guides and traveled 115 miles into Magdalena Mexico where bandits and armed guards accompanied him. After a fall from a horse and warnings against pursuing bandits, Stevenson attempted a mountain lion hunt back near the border. He noted a long street of Mexican saloons opposite American stores and hotels, and described Phoenix waterworks and Roosevelt dam irrigation reaching about 900,000 acres.
