Cupid Suffers Drop In Trade And Matrimony
Cupid is slipping as marriage records show a 22 percent drop in brides and grooms over the past three months compared to last year. In Black Hawk County 138 licenses were issued since January 1, 1921, versus 177 in the same period in 1920. Economic hardship and unemployment are blamed for postponing weddings, while Berlin reports a record 1920 marriage year.
