Former Waterloo Players Shine in Exhibition Game
Fred Schulz and Ovid McCracken showed well in a Milwaukee versus Cleveland Indians exhibition in Sanford Florida. Milwaukee lost 3 to 1 as Schulz had one of three Brewers hits off Tris Speaker’s pitchers. McCracken allowed four hits in three innings with two walks and one strikeout. Spurgeon singled and made an error that produced Milwaukee’s run. Otto Borchert reportedly competes with Speaker for Spurgeon’s services to cover shortstop, a weak spot for Otto’s club. The Milwaukee Journal highlights Schulz’s prowess with a photo in the Thursday issue.
