Double Election Board Measure Passed by Senate
Des Moines reports that a double election board bill by Representatives Francis and Gradey passed the Iowa Senate after House approval. The amended bill excludes school and municipal elections and primary polls under 500 votes, provides for a counting board starting at 1 p.m., and aims to relieve election judges. A second bill creating charitable organization registration also advanced to curb fake solicitations, and Caldwell’s tax on river or lake bed land up to 10 cents per ton was approved for funding state needs. Brookhart’s motor vehicle law repeal remains on the calendar for potential action.
