John Deere Tractor Firm Adds 200 Workers in Hiring Spree
John Deere, maker of standard tractors, reports 1,300 employees after adding 200 in recent weeks. A new 120 by 120 foot brick steel and glass unit will join the plant at an estimated 525,000 contract with Jens Olesen & Sons Construction Co. First light tractor shipped from the new machine shop to Rauschaupt & Fink of New Palestine Indiana. Production to rise gradually as dealers are stocked. The expansion increases the central building to 120 by 420 feet and 50 000 square feet of floor space.

Two Anniversaries Marked at Dinner Party in Hudson
At the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Baldwin in Hudson a dinner marked the birthday anniversaries of ghost and hostess. Mr. Baldwin, a Civil War veteran, is 90 today while his wife’s anniversary is due Saturday. Dinners were served by two daughters in law, and several local couples attended.
