The Corporation Tax Upholds Taft Era Law
The U S Supreme Court upholds the Payne tariff era corporation tax as an excise on the right to do business in corporate form not an income tax. It exempts incomes under 5000, taxes 1 percent on excess, sparing small firms while larger corporations bear a share. The tax aids revenue and may influence constitutional debates and future taxation plans.
