Wilson Does Not Show Partiality in Patched Party Posts
Washington March 14 Original Wilson men must share offices with other brands of democrats in a policy extending beyond Iowa. President Wilson nominates John S. Williams as assistant secretary of the treasury, a staunch anti Bryan democrat, to balance with Robert S. Woolley a progressive from Virginia. The move aims to mollify factions and please conservatives while keeping progressives on side, an experiment whose success remains uncertain. Williams’ appointment is praised by Virginia machine leaders, with Secretary McAdoo and Senators Martin Swanson involved. Iowa could gain a fisheries commissioner, Dr. Coker, and more patronage as rail valuation work expands interstate commerce staff. Home-grown radishes and lettuce advertised.

Last night's showers dropped about 1.19 inches under Ralph B. Slippy’s records. The rain washed streets of mud and disease germs, boosted soil moisture for farmers, filled small streams, and pushed Cedar River higher, as a cold wave and possible snow loomed with a 28.20 barometer reading signaling coming gales.
