Patent Case May Be Reheard
Washington March 16 Attorney General Wickersham indicated a strong likelihood of a rehearing being asked of the Supreme Court in the patent monopoly case decided yesterday by a divided bench four to three. He said he had taken the matter up with the parties at issue and asked if a rehearing was desired. The government, not a party to the suit, can act only through the defeated parties. The rehearing would be asked on the ground that a full bench had not passed on the case. There are pending before the judiciary committee bills aimed at reaching the same result, inspired by the government’s suits against United Shoe Machinery Company.
