Traer Lumber Yard Blaze Threatens Local Business
A March 9 fire destroyed Page Lumber in Traer Iowa risking the entire business section for 90 minutes. Firefighters, aided by rain and a favorable wind, contained the blaze though the local department faced delays from a new truck. The building, built in 1902, housed about 16 000 in stock with additional equipment losses. The origin is uncertain with possible weather-related start or incendiary cause.
