North China Mer Quit Conference Amid Unenforced Truce
Associated Press reports that northern China delegates have resigned en masse from the peace talks in Shanghai asking for replacements. The move follows failures to enforce a truce in Shensi and distrust of Chu Chih-Chien while Tang Shao Yi’s southern stance binds the south. If accepted, the conference may dissolve, signaling a militarist victory and a push to organize a new army trained in Japan.
