Iowa lawmakers weigh funding for teacher summer schools
Des Moines March 1 The full appropriations committee will decide soon after the assembly reconvenes on the fate of the summer extension schools run by Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. An appropriation of 72000 is requested to support this work as smaller colleges seek to limit or end extension service. The committee also considers whether the blind commission should remain an independent agency or be merged into the Vinton school for the blind. A subcommittee favors consolidation. The historical department seeks 1000000 for a new building to display exhibits from Civil War to World War II, but the subcommittee recommends no new building at present.
