Iowa State Golf Matches Continue in Championship Flight

Des Moines June 29. In the third round of the championship flight three former state champions Ralph Rider William Sheehan and Warren Dickinson compete as the Iowa state golf tourney resumes with several close contests expected. Fred Carr loses to Charles S. Voree while W H Ammons falls to William Souers, and A W Bartlett of Ottumwa is eliminated by Philip Worth. W D Middleton of Davenport remains the only out of town contender at the opening of today’s round.

The Lotus club met hosted by Mrs Mildred Woodley planning a picnic for Aug 1 at Perkins grove. Presbyterian Sunday school pupils performed a cantata with music and a solo by Mrs Otto Wettstein. Tourist club elected officers led by President Elizabeth North and held a meeting that included an original program and a picnic upcoming. Local visits included Mrs P Haller and daughters from Van Horn Texas and Jessie and Ruth Hake from Radcliff Indiana plus Miss Vida Miller from Waterloo. Rock Island worker Charles Kath left for St Paul to join Western Union. Maud Rober visited Dysart. Misses Hake honored with a party hosted by Mr and Mrs Clyde Anton. Mr and Mrs Fayette Countryman of Rockford joined Sunday visitors. An eight pound baby girl arrived Tuesday for Mr and Mrs Edward Bradfueld in Gooding Idaho. John Rawlin arrived from Town City after civil coursework.

Baptist Pastor Attends World Baptist Alliance Meeting

Rev. BE A Valliant of First Baptist church returned from Philadelphia where he attended the World's Baptist Alliance in session. The gathering, held every five years, drew more than 5,000 delegates from sixty nations. The next meeting is set for 1916 in Berlin, Germany, and Valliant will lead evening prayer services and preach Sunday in his own pulpit.

Suit to Collect $800 Note Filed

The Cedar Falls National bank filed suit this morning against C. W. Price to collect $800 on a note dated July 16, 1910, delivered to John Iblings. The bank seeks judgment for principal plus interest at the agreed rate, arising from an automobile transaction.

Oliver Cordner aged 70 of Parkersburg visited Waterloo for a circus. Found sleeping drunk near water melon shanties on Lafayette Street police say no injury or robbery occurred. He arrived with four ten dollar bills and a five dollar bill. money’s whereabouts unknown as he sobered at the station.

Cops Uniforms Move To City Council In Special Session

Civil service commissioners meet tonight to push purchase of light summer police uniforms. Plan: officers buy their own suits and be reimbursed by the city, with council expected to approve. Earlier meeting Monday yielded no explanation for delay amid broad support for lighter attire this summer.
