Four Waterloo homes gain permits for 14,500 outlay
Waterloo permits issued this week authorize four new homes plus garages totaling about 14,500 dollars. G. J. Nahe will build a brick dwelling at 158 Lovejoy with a 28 by 34 footprint, plus a 18 by 20 garage. Kohl and Storm add a 26 by 24 frame house at 202 Danger Street and a 24 by 28 frame residence at 152 Summit Avenue with two garages. Mann of Dysart plans a 1656 Forest Avenue 28 by 24 frame home with a 100 dollar garage, while one more two garages and three porches are noted among other permits.

Hydraulic Control Installation For Gas Plant
Central Iowa Power Light Co plans hydraulic control for one gas machine at its Waterloo area plant. United Gas Improvement Company won the contract at about 8000 dollars. Installation begins Sept 1 with operation ready Oct 1. System uses hydraulic pressure to operate valves, increasing output and reducing labor. Construction of a two mile electric line is noted.
Nearby Communities Expand School Building This Year
Small towns near Waterloo use vacation to construct new school structures and expand existing plants due to growing enrolment. Winthrop, east of Waterloo on Grant Highway, awarded John G. Miller a $25,000 contract for an addition to the current school facilities.
