Minos Central Puts In Signal System at Manchester
The Minos Central Railroad installs an electric signal system at the Firth Street crossing west of the river to warn motorists of approaching trains. The $3,000 installation will ring a gong and display lights on the Cedar Rapids branch to cut danger at the busy No. 13 Primary highway crossing. A Franklin Street observer tallies 2973 cars to Manchester with 210 without lights, 46 with no lights, and many speeding by muffler cutouts open.
