SICK LAND REVIVED BY CHANCED WAYS OF HANDLING
Hyde Farm Habitor Cedar Falls June 2 Three years ago Kerman Heineman started farming a 250 acre tract west of here owned by G J Rapp dolph Waterloo attorney. Today 34 acres of corn near knee high before Fourth of July and a five acre field of newly seeded alfalfa show the farm adapting to drought. Cattle and farm improvements bolster production as Heineman employs clean cultivation crop rotation and manure. About 80 head of cattle are on the farm and hay and grain crops progress despite limited rainfall. The dairy operation relies on a milkhouse with cement floors screens and good odor control. The partnership with G J Riddelph remains 50 50 with income split equally and both men contributing funds and labor to the farm’s revival.
