Honored Hudson Resident Called Home

Eliza A. Thompson wife of Rev William P Thompson pastor of the Baptist church in Hudson Black Hawk county died Saturday at 6 PM at home after months of illness due to dropsy and heart trouble. Born November 11 1835 in Schuylkill county PA she became a long time resident of Iowa arriving 1866 with her husband and four children nearby 35 grandchildren survived. Funeral Tuesday at 10 AM at the family home conducted by Rev E Bodenham.

Waterloo Cubs Defeat Waterloo Independents 7 to 4 at Red Cedar Park

Waterloo Cubs beat the Independents 7 to 4 as Burke pitched for the Cubs and Wolfe for the Independents. Key moments included Griffin stealing second and Wagner's clutch hitting and throwing. The Cubs scoring included two in the fifth and two more in the sixth aided by errors and a stolen base. Burke closed strong. The Cubs seek more out of town games, with William Wagner at Globe Hotel avenues.

Lester TWP Boy Now a Physician

Dr. Emery Ernest Magee formerly of Lester township will locate in Waterloo to practice medicine. His offices will be in the First National Bank building. He graduated from the Iowa State Normal School Cedar Falls in 1905 and from Northwestern University Medical School in 1909, and has spent the past two years at Wesley Hospital.

In Des Moines on June 19 a special election examines whether the city should own and operate its water plant. Supporters predict victory while a notable feature is the large presence of women voters casting ballots on the issue.

Morrison Confirmed Glass in Waterloo Church Service

Bishop Theodore N. Morrison of Davenport presided over a confirmation class of six at St. Mark's parish in Waterloo. The 10:30 a.m. service in Russell-Lamson hall drew a large audience, with special music by the choir and a thoughtful address from the bishop urging a life aligned with vows and Christian growth. Rev. J. S. Cole assisted.

Delay in Receipt of World’s Strongest Searchlight at Waterloo

A powerful searchlight planned for Electric Park faces manufacturing delays. The light, intended to be mounted on the tower of the figure eight, could advertise Waterloo for miles. If raised 100 feet and on a circular base, it could sweep 100 to 120 miles.
