Bowdoin Arctic Expedition Plans Diverse Equipment
The Bowdoin expedition will use high powered Standard navy sets and one plane with Standard navy gear and another with recent short wave apparatus. It aims to send daily progress reports to the navy department and the Geographic Society. Belief in land beyond the north pole hinges on Eskimo traditions, tidal observations, and mirages seen by Peary and MacMillan. If land is found, the American flag may be raised, with no decision on ownership yet.
