Waterloo Strawberry Crop Exceeds California Until Harvest Peak
Strawberries in Waterloo grow generously this year, with W H Mitchell predicting a record yield from two acres. Vines fruit heavily with some plants bearing 40 or more berries, and ripe fruit could yield a quart box per plant. Mitchell bets his crop will beat California fields if weather stays favorable and plans to hire 25 to 30 pickers at peak harvest.
