Phosphates and lime boost yields on main field crops
Iowa farmers met at W D Strayer’s farm to review eight years of field tests showing phosphate and lime raise red clover and corn yields on black, heavy soil. Data from plots with manure or crop residues support higher clover stands and better soil humus, while lime reduces soil acidity and improves nutrient availability for future rotations.
