Do not Decide From a Single Experience
A young woman recounts her brutal warning against cautious love and careless social pressure. After her aunt, a rich but wary widow, warns her against marriage, the narrator secretly marries Charlie Edson to secure happiness. An attempted claim by the aunt's ex-husband prompts a new will, but a later document frees the narrator from entanglements, and she and Charlie secure the estate with the lawyer’s help. The tale ends with a moral about restraint and prudent action in pivotal moments.
