Black Hawk county and surrounding areas recorded the season's second heaviest rain with 0.86 inch and strong winds. Farm damage included blown structures near Greene, with livestock displaced and bridges at risk. The Cedar River may rise five inches, threatening youths who visit the water.

Wainwright Alberta June 12 two thousand young buffalo from the Wainwright herd will be moved 700 miles west northward to the Slave River reserve. They will be loaded at Wainwright on cattle trucks, transferred to boxcars in Edmonton, then carried north to Fort McMurray and boated 259 miles down the Slave river to La Butte, where they will be released. The move addresses overpopulation as the park supports 6000 but the herd nears 9000, with wood bison once part of the northern buffalo herd now preserved as a wild game sanctuary.
Mrs. William Ratff drove to the sheriff’s office with Earl Basham’s body and said she shot him after a struggle at a fishing camp near Portsmouth. She claimed Basham choked her during a violent dispute and she fired to defend herself. Basham died of a heart shot. Ratliff remains jailed awaiting hearing.

Albany June 12 Governor Al Smith dismissed reports he would retire at the end of his current term calling them a pipe dream and saying he has no retirement plans.
United States Senator Smite W. Brookhart told the Iowa State Federation of Labor in June that a cooperative marketing and credit system could lift farmers from bankruptcy as farm product values rise and produce prices strain both producers and consumers. He cited 1924 value gains, bank ruptcies across several states, and rural-urban migration, insisting cooperative methods offer the path to stability.
