Four Nominations to State Convention Highlight Iowa Primary

Special Women's Features Planned for State Fair

Special features for the Iowa State Fair women's and children's department include a style show by the women of Iowa State College and a pageant titled The Maik Fairies by Miss Esse V Hathaway. Mrs. O A Olson heads the program committee as plans are set. The college girls will also present a house furnishing feature. Cub-committee meetings will be held in Des Moines this month during the National club biennial to advance preparations.

Des Moines reports big preparations for the forty sixth annual encampment of the state G A R to be held in Ottumwa June 22 24 Gov Harding will speak at a large campfire Tuesday evening June 22 and review a parade Wednesday afternoon A one and one third fare is granted to G A R members and their families and allied organizations Many social events are planned for visitors.

Fort Dodge Street Railway Boosts Fare to Eight Cents

Fort Dodge in June reports plans to revive the insolvent Fort Dodge Street Railway after three meetings with city officials led to a contract. Fare rises from four to eight cents for single rides and a dollar bought as sixteen rides. Jitney licenses within three blocks of rail lines will be revoked. The company, under receiver W H Buckles, has operated since 1919. A rehabilitation proposal was accepted by the city council after discussions, with a clause waiving charges for a strip along the tracks.
