Des Moines Considers Turning Rice Lake Into State Park
The Iowa state board of conservation discussed acquiring Rice Lake in Winnebago County to convert surrounding land into a public park at minimal cost. The lake’s wildlife habitat and wild rice attract waterfowl, with local communities funding much of park projects. Members include Senator W. G. Maskell, Mrs. O. M. McNider, and Prof. Pamme, with plans to expand the board to five.
