Shanahan Endorses Credit Based on Integrity at Waterloo Banquet
J Shanahan, secretary of the Retail Merchants association at Ottumwa Iowa, urged Waterloo merchants to cooperate with each other and with city newspapers. He said newspapers are a community asset and warned that a cash basis is impractical, advocating credit built on integrity. About 50 to 60 attendees heard him emphasize honesty to curb losses from dead beats. The banquet ended with a fine dinner before a summer休 break.
