Little Brown Church in the Vale relic to be marked by DAR

Flag day June 14 will see the Daughters of the American Revolution of Charles City chapter unveil a bronze tablet on the grounds of Nashua’s Chapel in Bradford. The tablet will rest in a native granite boulder near the church, one of the few remaining structures from Bradford’s Civil War era. Built during hard times, the chapel’s debt was repaid in 1926 from wedding fees, funding restorations. The hymn Little Brown Church in the Vale linked to a Bradford resident who wrote it before its construction. Five Nashua women, members of Charles City BD. A. R. chapter, are listed: Mrs. A. L. Keut, Mrs. J. Putney, Mrs. Jack Mathews, Mrs. P. E. Stuart, and Miss Mame Weller.
