Fraudulent Advertising Model Statute Endorsed by Proprietary Association
The Printers Ink Model Statute, adopted by Missouri and Colorado and echoed by New York with the word knowingly, spreads to North Carolina and West Virginia with amendments. Several states consider or enacted similar laws to curb false advertising, targeting statements about quality and price and holding advertisers and agents accountable. The Proprietary Association endorsed the model at its May meeting, seeing it as a tool against fraud and beneficial to consumers.
